COMPANY HISTORY.
We will take you on a little trip back in time for you to learn where these great visions and goals, which result into our passion, come from. The Sturgyik family goes back four generations to Franz Sturgyik senior.
Even back then, the focus was on materials such as glass, ceramic, stone, and slabs of all sizes, as well as individual and artistically designed mosaics. Franz Sturgyik sen. was the grandfather of current CEO Ronald Sturgyik.
He was a gifted glass painter and engaged in what can be called craftwork. His signature can be found in windows of many churches in Upper Austria (e.g. parish Gumpendorf St. Ägyd). He even masterfully restored one of the altar windows of the St. Stephen’s cathedral.
This sense of creativity and quality characterized the craft of the Sturgyik family back then, and since the tile doesn’t fall far from the wall, this still holds true today.
In 1980, Franz Sturgyiks son (Franz Sturgyik II) became self-employed and took important steps from the church window to what you call “your room by terra4motion” today. The creation of artistically challenging wall and floor elements made from ceramic, glass, and natural stone has been consistently continued and improved. Cooperation with numerous architects and artists culminated in the implementation of numerous unique projects such as the plaza design in the apartment complex Alt Erlaa, based off designs by Günther Kraus in architecture by Harry Glück, which was unique at the time, or the design of the Sante Eufemia e Tecia church in Grignano/Trieste based off designs by Professor Herbert Tasquil.
From stained glass to artistic mosaics to ceramic works in all areas.
You can find us in the first district at Gonzagagasse 13, where we have been since 2002, under the management of CEO Ronald Sturgyik, who will soon be followed by his son, Ivo Sturgyik. Here, projects such as the Millennium Tower, the faithful-to-the-original renovation of the U4 and U6 subway stations built by Otto Wagner, as well as modern buildings such as the Vienna University of Economics and Business or the Floridsdorf Clinic have been implemented.
